Appointments are subject to availability.
Appointments cancelled less than 12 hours before the scheduled start time are treated as used and one session credit is deducted.

11. Guided Study live sessions
Guided Study includes a weekly 60-minute live session.
The standard format is approximately:
20 minutes of Moribana, Nageire, and Freestyle demonstrations
40 minutes of questions, discussion, and design critiques
Students from Books 1–5 attend together.
Students may attend without having a design ready for critique.
Live critiques are generally first come, first served, as time permits.
12. Guided Study schedule
Live sessions take place on Tuesdays and alternate between:
9:00–10:00 AM Vietnam time
and
7:00–8:00 PM Vietnam time
Vietnam time is ICT / UTC+7.
The initial cycle begins November 3, 2026 at 9:00 AM.
Schedules may be updated where reasonably necessary.
13. Guided Study recordings
Guided Study recordings remain available for 6 months.
This six-month recording period also applies to Book 5.
Independent Study does not include live-session recordings.
14. Lesson submissions
Every curriculum lesson requires one completed design submission.
Students submit:
front-view photograph
left-side photograph
right-side photograph
lesson number and title
short written reflection
A materials list is recommended but optional.
15. Written evaluation
At launch, each lesson submission is evaluated personally by Nixon Tran and normally returned within 3 days.
Evaluation considers both the arrangement and its photographic presentation.
The evaluation system is not pass/fail.
Once the required work has been submitted and reviewed, the lesson counts toward course progress.
An instructor may recommend revisiting a lesson or submitting a second arrangement. Unless specifically stated otherwise, resubmission is optional.
16. Pace of study
Students may submit multiple lessons in a week.
There is no standard weekly submission limit.
When Still may recommend slowing the pace when additional time with an idea or technique would support stronger development.
17. Entry into Books 2–5
Students pursuing certification should complete the preceding Sogetsu studies in sequence.
When Still may request the student’s Sogetsu ID or previous-teacher information to confirm study history.
Students not pursuing certification may request placement into a later book after consultation with When Still.
18. Certification pathway
Books 1–4 may lead toward the corresponding Sogetsu certificate.
Book 5 may lead toward a Sogetsu diploma.
When Still currently requires:
Books 1–4: minimum four months of study for each book before applying
Book 5: minimum ten months of study before applying
Certification is separate from course completion and remains subject to Sogetsu requirements, application procedures, fees, and approval.
19. Certification application
After eligibility:
When Still may require approximately 1–3 weeks to prepare/process the application.
Sogetsu headquarters may require approximately 3 months to issue and send the credential to When Still.
Forwarding the credential to the student may require approximately 1 additional month.
These are estimates and may vary.
20. Certification fees
Certification fees are separate from tuition.
Official fees are charged in Japanese yen and vary by level.
When Still charges a US$20 service fee per certification application.
Shipping is charged separately according to destination.
All certificates and diplomas are mailed to the student.
21. Textbooks and materials
Online students provide their own:
required Sogetsu textbook
flowers and plant materials
containers
tools
mechanics
lesson-specific materials
Textbooks are purchased separately through Sogetsu.
22. Course pauses
In exceptional circumstances, Nixon Tran may approve one temporary pause per course.
Approved pauses:
cost US$10 per month
may last up to 3 months
pause course access
pause Guided Study access
pause unused 1:1 Studio credits
The remaining active course period resumes after reactivation.
Maximum calendar span:
Books 1–4: up to 9 months
Book 5: up to 15 months
Additional pauses are not available.
23. Refunds
Under When Still’s voluntary refund policy, refund requests may be submitted within 7 days of purchase.
Approved refunds are subject to a 20% administration and digital-access fee.
After seven days, purchases are non-refundable under this voluntary policy except where applicable law provides additional consumer rights.
Any 1:1 Studio session already used remains consumed.
24. Course support
For course, account, enrollment, or access questions:
When Still will respond as soon as reasonably possible.
